The Calgary Fire, Hockey Calgary’s Elite Female Hockey franchise, is expanding for the 2024-25 hockey season.

Hockey Alberta’s Elite Female Hockey Committee has announced the expansion of the U18 Elite division. The Alberta Female Hockey League (AFHL) will be expanding to eight U18 AAA teams with the addition of teams in Calgary and Sherwood Park.  An additional team will be hosted by OHA Edmonton and play in the CSSHL.

The communication of the expansion was shared with us late in 2023.  GHC and Hockey Calgary are working as quickly as possible to develop a game plan moving forward.  We know there are numerous questions that our members may have.  Hockey Calgary plans to release a detailed FAQ document by Monday January 22, 2024 to address those questions.  If you have specific questions, please submit them here and they will be built into the FAQ document.

This addition will require increased resources and a restructuring of how the current GHC Board is set up.  Hockey Calgary will work closely with GHC in the development of this plan to ensure we can produce a quality program on and off the ice.
