Players who wish to try-out for the Calgary Fire are not required to attend a Spring Camp. However, it is an important opportunity to meet our coaches and learn more about the Calgary Fire and the AAA/AA female hockey stream in Alberta.
The purpose of our Spring camps is to provide an opportunity for athletes and parents to:
- Experience the competition level of Elite female hockey.
- Learn more about the Calgary Fire program.
- Meet Calgary Fire Elite coaching staff and receive feedback.
U18 AAA only: Between June 15 and August 15, U18 AAA teams have the ability to formally commit to a maximum of five (5) skaters and one (1) goaltender. All commitments are made formally by using the “Player Agreement” form. Please note that underage players are not eligible to sign a “Player Agreement” prior to try outs as their participation must be approved in accordance with the Player Acceleration process.

CAMP FAQ
PLAYERS OUTSIDE OF THE CALGARY ZONE WISHING TO TRY-OUT FOR THE CALGARY FIRE AAA
1. HOCKEY ALBERTA NOTIFICATION OF TRY-OUT FORM
It is no longer a requirement for players trying out for a “AAA” team that is outside their Resident Minor Hockey Association to submit a completed Elite Female Notification of Tryout Form signed by their Resident MHA. One week prior to the beginning of the Calgary Fire U18 AAA try-outs a list of the names of players trying out will be sent to all associations that have players participating at tryouts.
2. LETTER OF PERMISSION (HOCKEY ALBERTA)
Players outside of Zone 9 who wish to attend a U18 "AAA" Calgary Fire training camp and/or tryout camp must submit a Letter of Permission to Girls Hockey Calgary Association (GHC). Please send completed form to admin@girlshockeycalgary.com
If a player signed a Player Agreement and was registered with a AAA team for the 2022/2023 season and would like to play for another AAA team for the 2023/2024 season, the family will need to request an Elite Waiver from the Previous Registered Team. The signed waiver, complete with rationale must be submitted to the Female Elite Hockey Committee prior to the start of tryouts.
A player who is released from the Calgary Fire U18 AAA try-out process and wishes to pursue the opportunity to try out with a second team will need a completed Elite Waiver Form from Girls Hockey Calgary. At the "AAA" level the player may choose a second team to try out for. This information needs to be submitted, alongside the Elite Waiver to the Female Elite Hockey Committee prior to moving onto your second tryout.
Please note: It is understood by all parties that should the player be chosen as a member of the Calgary Fire, GHC will notify the AFHL and the player’s Resident LMHA. If the player does not make the Calgary Fire, it is the player’s responsibility to notify her Resident LMHA whether or not she is returning or wishing to access an additional try out.
