Hockey Canada Announces Changes to Age Division Names
Hockey Canada has announced it will discontinue the use of terms such as “bantam”, “midget” and “peewee” to identify minor hockey age divisions.
Following the recommendations of a task team, the age divisions will become U7, U9, U11 through to U21, impacting all minor and female hockey programs under the Hockey Canada umbrella. The new terms will be implemented beginning next hockey season for all 13 provincial and territorial members.
GHC will begin to adopt these new terms in any 2020/21 communication. They will fully implemented next season.
