Safety Protocols
GHC Jr. Inferno 2021 Winter Skills player development program (U7-U18) and goalie development (U11+) program will run from February 22 - April 1, 2021.
Skater groups of 8-9 players and 1-2 coaches in accordance with current AHS guidelines.
Goalie sessions with Top Prospects Goaltending with 3:1 instructor ratio.
Focus on individual skill improvement featuring at least one session with a professional third-party instructor.
Parents must follow the capacity and spectator policies of the arenas. Read more about Spectator Guidelines under Alberta's Step 1.
Quick Note:
Great Plains
- NO spectators will be allowed in Great Plains.
- Female Dressing Room Supervisor(s) will be allowed to remain in the building if the number of participants on the ice does not reach the maximum of 20 individuals.
ECTAS
- ECTAS will allow one parent per player to enter the arena. However, it is preferred that older players be dropped off at the rink.
Players should arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before the ice time and already dressed in their equipment (with the exception of skates and helmet). Use of dressing rooms should be kept to a minimum.
Great Plains
- NO spectators will be allowed in Great Plains.
- Female Dressing Room Supervisor(s) will be allowed to remain in the building if the number of participants on the ice does not reach the maximum of 20 individuals.
- For U7 to U11 age divisions, one parent per Group can assist the coach(es) with within the double doors of Great Plains. Masks and physical distancing protocol must be followed.
Players at Great Plains who need their skates tied by an adult can do so:
- Outside of the facility (and enter the rink on good quality skate guards)
- With the help of ONE masked volunteer parent identified before each ice session inside the double doors.
- With the help of their masked Group Coach
- With the help of the masked Female Dressing Room Supervisor
ECTAS
- ECTAS will allow one parent per player to enter the arena. However, it is preferred that older players be dropped off at the rink. Masks and physical distancing protocol must be followed.
Each group must have one Female Dressing Room Supervisor at each ice session. Preferably this is the same individual each time. Each group has a lanyard for the Supervisor to wear at all ice times, and the Supervisor must complete the TeamSnap "Health Check" before each ice session. Your coach should be able to add you to the TeamSnap roster, or you can email our Hockey Admin Manager.

Please note, Great Plains has a strict capacity policy.
If the number of on-ice individuals (participants and coaches) at Great Plains is 20:
- Both supervisors must leave the facility once the girls are on ice.
- Supervisors should return 5 minutes before ice time ends to be in the dressing room post practice.
- NO OTHER SPECTATORS OR PARENTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE FACILITY.
If the number of on-ice individuals (participant and coaches) at Great Plains is 19:
- 1 supervisor must stay in the facility.
- Masks and physical distancing protocol must be followed.
- NO OTHER SPECTATORS OR PARENTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE FACILITY.
If the number of on-ice individuals (participant and coaches) at Great Plains is 18:
- Both supervisors must stay in the facility.
- Masks and physical distancing protocol must be followed.
- NO OTHER SPECTATORS OR PARENTS ARE ALLOWED IN THE FACILITY.
Players, coaches and dressing room supervisors must complete “Health Check” before each ice session. The Association will monitor “Health Checks” and designate a parent to so. If you answer yes to any of the “Health Check” questions or have any COVID-19 symptoms, you will not be cleared to participate and must contact ghchealthandsafety@gmail.com
- If you answer yes to any of the “Health Check” questions or have any COVID-19 symptoms, you will not be cleared to participate.
- Players will not be allowed on the ice if the health check is not completed.
- If your player is not attending, you should not fill out the Health Check.
- “Health Check” will open for input 8 hours before the scheduled event.
- Please Familiarize yourself with the symptoms of COVID-19 and follow AHS and Government guidelines.
- If your player becomes ill, is a “Close Contact” or is suspected of having COVID-19, you must email ghchealthandsafety@gmail.com
- DO NOT ATTEND HOCKEY ACTIVITIES IF YOU ARE SICK.
Questions included on the Screening Tool:
1. Have you experienced a fever of 100.4ºF or greater in the past 14 days?
2. Have you received a positive result from a COVID-19 test within the past 14 days or have you been in close contact with anyone that has or had symptoms of COVID-19 that required you to quarantine?
3. In the past 14 days, have you or someone with whom you have been in close contact traveled to an area that required quarantine upon return?
4. In the past 14 days, have you experienced or had a worsening any of these symptoms that are not attributed to another health condition: fever, cough, loss of smell or taste, or shortness of breath?
5. Does the player have any new onset or worsening of these other core symptoms: Chills, Sore Throat/Difficulty Swallowing, Runny Nose/Congestion, Feeling Unwell or Fatigue, Headache, Nausea or Vomiting, Pink Eye, Muscle and Joint Aches or general feeling of being unwell or fatigued?

We have confirmed all ice bookings and safety protocols with Great Plains and ECTAS, which align with the Government of Alberta and AHS restrictions on Community Sport under Sept 1.
If for any reason the province re-introduces restrictions under Step 1 that affect our operations, we will cancel the program.
If for any reason the province re-introduces restrictions under Step 1 that affect our operations, we will cancel the program and refund registrants based on costs incurred up to the point of cancellation.
Refunds will not be provided in the event of a "close contact" or positive case of COVID-19 and a group needs to be shut down for 14 days.
If they were 90 degrees, the ice would melt!
